Welcome to the Women’s Bar Association (“WBA”) and Women’s Bar Foundation (“WBF”) web site. The following paragraphs disclose our information gathering and dissemination practices. This privacy statement may change at any time; any changes will be posted on this page.

Privacy

We are committed to the online privacy of our web site visitors and recognize the need for appropriate protection and management of your personally identifiable information.

Personal Information means any information that may be used to identify an individual, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, a home or other physical address and an email address or other contact information, whether at work or at home.

Our goal is to provide protection for a visitor's personal information no matter where that information is collected, transferred, or retained.

If you choose to provide us with your personal information on the Web, we may transfer that information within the WBA or WBF or to a third-party service provider, across borders, and from your country or jurisdiction to other countries or jurisdictions around the world. 

We will use your personal information to provide you with the following: the WBA’s Women’s Bar Review, invitations to WBA and WBF fundraising events, information about WBA and WBF programs, periodic WBF fundraising solicitation letters and annual membership renewal applications.

The WBA from time to time provides its member postal address and/or email address mailing lists to other non-profits and for-profit organizations and political candidates.  If you do not wish to have your information shared for such purposes, please contact the WBA’s Office at 617-976-6666 or communications@womensbar.org.

Third Party Services

Third parties provide certain services available on our Web site on the WBA and WBF's behalves.  We may provide information, including personal information, that we collect on the Web to third-party service providers to help us deliver programs, products, information, and services. Service providers are also an important means by which we maintain our Web site. We take reasonable steps to ensure that these third-party service providers are obligated to protect personal information on our behalf.

Forms

Our site uses forms that require users to give us contact information (like name and email address), method of payment, and other personal and financial information.

We use customer contact information from the forms to process orders and requests and to send to the user requested products or services or information about the WBA or WBF. The customer's contact information is also used to contact the visitor when necessary. Information regarding method of payment is collected for membership, events, programs and fundraising purposes and to check the users' qualifications and bill the user for products, services and donations.  From time to time certain information we collect could be disclosed to third parties.

Our site contains links to other external web sites that do not fall under our domain. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such external web sites.

Public Forums

This site may make chat rooms, forums, List Serves and message boards available to our members. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas or through these media becomes public information, and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal or other information. Although we try to protect your personal information when you are using these public forums, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you use these forums at your own risk.  It is also not our responsibility to maintain the secrecy of any passwords you set up and/or any account information you have disclosed.

Wherever a visitor's Personal Information may be held by the WBA, the WBF or on their behalf, we intend to take reasonable and appropriate steps to protect this personal information from unauthorized access or disclosure.

Children's Privacy

Our Web site is not structured or intended to attract children. Accordingly, we do not intend to collect personal information from anyone we know to be under 13 years of age.
